Fabrianne Peterson Nampitjinpa was born in 1965 in Papunya located 240 km North West of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory.
Coming from an artistic family, Fabrianne Peterson Nampitjinpa lived in Walungurru where she painted alongside her mother-in-law, the well respected and world renowned indigenous artist Narpula Scobie Napurrula.
Although Fabrianne learned many techniques from her sister Sandra Turner (now painting out of Darwin) in Mt Leibig, she explains that her Dreaming’s come down to her from her Grandfather on her Mothers side of the family. She worked alongside her family members at the Papunya Tula Art Centre at the same time she worked as an teachers assistant.
Fabrianne depicts the Willy Wagtail Dreaming stories of the Mt Liebig area. They include Bush Potato, Witchetty Grub with Snake (Kunatjarrayi), Honey Ant and ‘Waingunu’ (Bush Damper) Dreamings.
She pays particular attention to detail, creating the most inspiring and brilliant paintings which give the impression of depth and varied perspective. Her work features in many important public and private collections throughout Australia and around the world in private and corporate collections in America, Denmark, Poland and France.
