Born c 1938 at Haasts Bluff , Tatali still describes herself as Luritja, rather than Pintupi, as there were so few speakers at the school she attended in Haasts Bluff in the1950’s – until relocating to her traditional Pintupi homeland in Kintore around 1981.
The artist began painting in the late 1990’s and has since enjoyed career success as one of the more innovative of the emerging Western Desert painters .
Her work displays all the classic elements of Central & Western Desert art. The artwork expresses the stories and traditions of her country in a recognised Indigenous painting style.
She first painted in Haasts Bluff, by helping the older artists, and only began painting in her own right, around 1998.
Tatali has participated in over 12 exhibitions in Sydney, Canberra, Perth, Darwin, Melbourne and Adelaide .
Her work is in the collections of Artbank and Flinders University Museum.
